This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Automation QA Engineer based in India.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement scalable test automation frameworks from the ground up.
- Assess existing automation suites and support their migration to Playwright and other appropriate modern technologies.
- Develop and maintain automated functional UI tests as well as API and service-level tests.
- Expand and optimize automated testing infrastructure to improve coverage, reliability, and execution efficiency.
- Integrate automated tests and reporting into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.
- Define and document test frameworks, coding standards, design patterns, testing methodologies, and automation best practices.
- Conduct peer reviews and promote high standards of code quality, maintainability, and consistency across automation solutions.
- Define quality metrics and implement measurement approaches to evaluate test effectiveness, testing efficiency, and overall product quality.
- Analyze test results and provide clear conclusions and reporting on the quality and readiness of products under test.
- Collaborate with QA and development teams to identify manual testing processes that can be effectively automated.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate testing risks throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to testing teams on automation strategy, tools, frameworks, and best practices.
- Support the onboarding and technical enablement of new team members.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across quality engineering, automation, and delivery processes.
- Work effectively within Agile Scrum/Kanban teams and collaborate with distributed stakeholders, including maintaining approximately four hours of overlap with Central US working hours.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in QA automation, with strong expertise in web and backend/API testing.
- Strong understanding of software testing methods, techniques, test types, methodologies, and quality engineering principles.
- Demonstrated experience creating automation frameworks from scratch and establishing scalable automation architectures.
- Strong JavaScript development skills, including a solid understanding of programming principles, patterns, asynchronous execution, and the JavaScript event loop.
- Hands-on experience with modern testing frameworks such as PlaywrightJS, PuppeteerJS, or WebdriverIO, with Playwright experience particularly valuable.
- Experience working with at least one JavaScript test runner such as JasmineJS, MochaJS, Jest, AVA, or Playwright.
- Practical experience with BDD, ATDD, and TDD approaches.
- Strong understanding of CSS and XPath selector syntax.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD environments using tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket CI/CD, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, or similar platforms.
- Strong experience with version control systems, particularly Git, with SVN or other systems being an advantage.
- Experience with test reporting tools such as Allure or similar solutions.
- Good knowledge of AWS and/or Azure DevOps services and cloud-based development environments.
- Good understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, including technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
- Experience working in Agile Scrum and/or Kanban development environments.
- Experience creating test documentation, including test strategies, test plans, and related quality documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk-management skills, with a structured approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and work effectively with distributed teams.
- Upper-Intermediate English proficiency or above, with strong spoken and written communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to maintain approximately four hours of working-time overlap with the Central US region.
- Relevant experience with .NET and/or Java is an advantage.
