This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Fullstack Engineer based in Canada.
This is an early, high-impact engineering opportunity within a growing AI-native fintech SaaS environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with executive leadership and engineering teammates to prioritize initiatives, shape the product roadmap, and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Design, develop, test, and own complex software features and platform components across the frontend and backend.
- Lead architectural decisions and establish technical direction for systems that are reliable, maintainable, and scalable.
- Deliver high-quality code across the full stack, with strong attention to performance, security, reliability, and testing.
- Establish and continuously improve engineering standards, development practices, and technical processes that support a high-performing engineering organization.
- Collaborate closely with Design and Operations teams to improve product functionality, usability, and overall customer outcomes.
- Mentor engineers, share technical expertise, and contribute to an engineering culture built around ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 3 years contributing to system design, architecture, or technical direction.
- Strong full-stack development experience with TypeScript/JavaScript on the frontend and Node.js on the backend, with flexibility to take on a frontend-heavy focus.
- Strong proficiency with React and modern frontend development practices.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery, including designing and operating scalable cloud services and data solutions.
- Proven experience modeling, querying, and optimizing MongoDB schemas and workloads at scale.
- Strong testing discipline across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, with a focus on building reliable production software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead platform architecture decisions, establish technical direction, and mentor other engineers.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a fully distributed remote environment spanning Canada, the US, and LATAM.
Conditions
- Competitive annual salary of US$185,000–$240,000.
- Fully remote position with Canada as the primary location.
