About the company
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Technical Product Manager based in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Own and continuously prioritize the business technology services platform roadmap, translating evolving business needs into a structured backlog that supports scalability, international expansion, and ERP decoupling.
- Consolidate demand across business technology services and integration automation platforms into a single, transparent intake and prioritization process.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain, Member Experience, Commercial, and Corporate functions to understand requirements, clarify business objectives, and define actionable platform initiatives.
- Own technical product decisions related to API contracts, versioning, and integration patterns, including platform-based versus custom development, synchronous versus event-driven integrations, and batch versus real-time processing.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and senior integration engineers on complex system design, infrastructure decisions, and platform boundaries.
- Develop and communicate a compelling platform strategy, explaining technical trade-offs, investment priorities, business value, and expected outcomes to executive and cross-functional audiences.
- Align integration architecture with data infrastructure, including data lakehouse and data mesh capabilities, ensuring upstream integration decisions support downstream analytics and data products.
- Define and evaluate requirements for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and AI agents supporting the business technology ecosystem, in collaboration with AI productivity teams.
- Contribute to establishing and scaling an Integration and Automation Engineering team, partnering with leadership on team structure, hiring, and the transition from contractor-led delivery to a permanent team.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in technical product management or platform management, including substantial ownership of infrastructure, integration, or API platforms rather than exclusively customer-facing products.
- Strong technical proficiency, with the ability to write or critically review technical specifications, OpenAPI definitions, event schemas, and API contracts, as well as defend build-versus-buy and versioning decisions.
- Working knowledge of core AWS services used in integration platforms, such as API Gateway, Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, and SQS/SNS, sufficient to evaluate architectural trade-offs and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
- Direct experience with integration platform-as-a-service (iPaaS) solutions such as Workato, MuleSoft, Boomi, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of API design, versioning, contract management, and integration architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business requests into clear, actionable, and technically feasible requirements.
- Experience owning platform roadmaps that serve multiple internal teams, including managing competing priorities and consolidating demand across different stakeholders and backlogs.
- Proven ability to negotiate priorities and trade-offs with senior stakeholders, including directors and executive-level leaders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions and their business implications to non-technical audiences.
- Practical experience using large language model (LLM) assistants and AI-powered development tools, such as Claude, Cursor, Claude Code, or Lovable, for research, drafting, analysis, prototyping, and problem-solving.
- Sound judgment when applying AI tools, including the ability to validate outputs and recognize situations where AI is not appropriate.
- Experience establishing or governing an AI control plane, MCP gateway, or agent observability and policy layer.
- Experience with ERP integrations or modernization and decoupling initiatives involving NetSuite or similar systems.
- Familiarity with data lakehouse and data mesh architectures, including Databricks, and an understanding of how integration design affects analytics and data products.
- Experience transitioning a contractor-led function into a permanent platform engineering team.
