Our partner is looking for a Legal Technology Consulting Director - Discovery and Data Management based in the United States. This is a senior consulting opportunity focused on helping leading organizations build defensible, scalable, and technology-enabled eDiscovery programs. Responsibilities
- Lead multiple concurrent client engagements, maintaining strong executive and stakeholder relationships while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard.
- Facilitate workshops with senior legal, IT, legal operations, and eDiscovery stakeholders to assess current-state processes and define future-state objectives.
- Evaluate eDiscovery processes, technologies, reporting, metrics, costs, organizational structures, and service models against industry best practices.
- Identify appropriate eDiscovery platforms, technologies, service providers, and implementation approaches based on client requirements and strategic objectives.
- Develop and present recommendations, business cases, and implementation roadmaps designed to mitigate risk, reduce costs, improve scalability, and increase operational efficiency.
- Lead end-to-end implementation initiatives involving legal hold, data preservation, collection, processing, early case assessment, document review, and related discovery technologies.
- Map existing workflows to technology-enabled processes and integrations, creating practical and innovative solution frameworks.
- Develop polished client deliverables including process documentation, workflow diagrams, eDiscovery playbooks, standard operating procedures, role matrices, checklists, trackers, and dashboards.
- Define testing strategies and scenarios to validate processes, technologies, integrations, data handoffs, and hosting models against expected outcomes.
- Develop and execute change management strategies that encourage sustainable adoption and minimize disruption during technology and process implementations.
- Partner with technology providers and client teams to develop training programs and materials and lead end-user training where appropriate.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, scope, resources, risks, issues, and third-party vendor coordination for major system implementation initiatives.
- Serve as a primary client contact and escalation point for senior eDiscovery, litigation, legal technology, legal operations, and legal IT stakeholders.
- Mentor and coach junior team members, helping them develop project management, consulting, technical, and client relationship skills.
- Support account management and quarterly business reviews while identifying opportunities to strengthen client relationships and expand services.
- Contribute to business development through opportunity qualification, proposals, statements of work, client presentations, and new business pitches.
- Build relationships with technology vendors and strategic partners to develop new service offerings and strengthen existing capabilities.
- Participate in industry conferences, events, webinars, and thought leadership initiatives to bring new insights into the broader practice.
- Continuously improve consulting methodologies, project delivery tools, documentation, training resources, and reusable best practices.
- Explore and develop practical applications of generative AI and other emerging technologies to improve legal technology services and client outcomes.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience in legal consulting, legal technology, eDiscovery, or technology implementation, ideally in a customer-facing advisory capacity.
- Significant experience conducting eDiscovery process or technology assessments, selecting and implementing discovery platforms, designing eDiscovery operating models, developing playbooks, and advising clients on industry best practices.
- Hands-on experience implementing platforms such as Exterro, RelativityOne, Reveal, DISCO, Everlaw, Nuix, OpenText, or comparable eDiscovery technologies.
- Strong understanding of productivity and data-preservation platforms such as Microsoft 365 Purview, Google Vault, Slack, and related capabilities.
- Four-year degree in a relevant field such as Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Accounting, or Data & Analytics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), leading eDiscovery technologies and providers, and the roles of key discovery stakeholders.
- Understanding of legal operations, eDiscovery platform integrations, information governance, data hygiene, IT implementation methodologies, and appropriate controls.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, resources, timelines, risks, and competing priorities across multiple engagements.
