Responsibilities
- Build and deliver high-quality solutions that power Honeycomb’s query and data storage infrastructure.
- Scope and deliver projects independently, breaking down complex storage and querying problems into achievable steps.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, working closely with Product Management and other engineering teams.
- Support our services in production, participating in on-call rotations and helping define team KPIs and SLOs.
- Learn new ways to solve complex problems, exploring new technologies, data storage techniques, and query optimization strategies.
- Thrive on collaboration, enjoying pairing, reviewing code, and offering constructive feedback.
Requirements
- Technical leadership in storage and querying, with expertise in writing Go and experience working on high-throughput or complex systems.
- Prior experience with database engineering is a plus, as is comfort with Kubernetes.
- Curiosity and experimentation, learning by digging in individually, in pairs, or as a team.
- Focus on business outcomes, tying technical decisions to customer and company impact.
- Strength in mentorship and teamwork, guiding engineers through code reviews and helping spread knowledge.
- Resilience in collaboration, giving and receiving feedback with grace.
- Execution with impact, scoping and delivering complex, multi-team projects while balancing production realities.
- Deep debugging expertise, trusted to diagnose and resolve the toughest production issues across the stack.
