As an IT Product Manager, you will own the strategy, development, and continuous improvement of technology products that support higher education operations and digital learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Own assigned technology products and applications, serving as the primary subject matter expert and product champion throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop, prioritize, and manage product roadmaps and backlogs, translating business needs into user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with business leaders, technical teams, vendors, and project management stakeholders to deliver innovative technology solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
- Lead product discovery, project planning, scope definition, business case development, and implementation efforts while identifying risks, opportunities, and success metrics.
- Coordinate product launches, system enhancements, user acceptance testing (UAT), release management, and post-launch support to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Monitor vendor roadmaps and emerging technologies, recommending product improvements and communicating new capabilities to stakeholders.
- Produce product documentation, performance reports, KPIs, and executive updates while supporting budget planning and continuous product optimization.
- Resolve complex product issues, support Agile delivery teams, and foster collaboration across cross-functional departments throughout the software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred with at least 5 years of experience in business analysis, product management, or a related technology role.
- Experience supporting D2L, student portals, and higher education technology platforms, with a strong understanding of student and faculty-facing processes.
- Proven experience with Agile methodologies, business case development, project analysis, financial analysis, and software delivery lifecycle management.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, CRM platforms, and experience with system integrations, APIs, and enterprise technology environments.
- Familiarity with Student Information Systems (SIS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, and higher education operations is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Ability to write detailed product documentation, business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications while managing multiple priorities.
- Experience leading projects, defining KPIs, supporting User Acceptance Testing, and collaborating with remote teams using modern collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs) is considered an advantage.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed.
