Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end technical ownership of core systems: from schema design and backend APIs to React surfaces, driving them to production.
• Proactively identify gaps, inefficiencies, and engineering problems and lead the effort to resolve them.
• Design and build AI-powered features and integrations, including agent workflows and LLM-backed automation in production.
• Drive technical design for significant features and align teammates before coding.
• Mentor and support P2 engineers through code review, pairing, and design feedback.
• Collaborate with product, design, pricing, and operations.
• Build and ship incrementally, deploying to production dozens of times per day.
• Ensure reliability and quality with metrics, monitoring, and incident learnings.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production-grade systems.
• Deep ownership instinct.
• Full-stack fluency: database to browser, schema design, API contracts, frontend architecture.
• AI/LLM hands-on experience integrating LLMs into production workflows (latency, reliability, prompt fragility, cost).
• Agency and drive.
• Technical rigor: simple, well-tested, well-structured code.
• Strong communication.
• Proficiency deploying, monitoring, and maintaining production services on AWS.
• Plus: Java, Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, React, AWS; agentic patterns, RAG, workflow orchestration (Temporal); logistics/supply chain/freight tech/pricing systems.
