The Data Stewardship team at Airbnb is a group of data practitioners responsible for compliance obligations across the data ecosystem and ensuring data consumers can identify the best data for their needs.
Responsibilities
- Define the multi-year vision for Data Governance and Data Quality that scales with the global business and AI landscape
- Act as a primary consultant for executive leadership on data governance
- Lead the design of overarching data architectures anticipating real-time and AI-driven requirements
- Define best practices, tooling and culture for high-quality data
- Lead cross-functional task forces (Infosec, Legal, Privacy) on regulations like GDPR or AI Act
- Coach Senior and Staff engineers on data best practices
Requirements
- 12+ years of industry experience leading large-scale data initiatives
- Expertise designing complex data ecosystems in high-volume environments
- Deep expertise in the Java/Scala/Spark ecosystem (preferably S3 and Iceberg)
- Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL
- Experience driving cultural shifts around data ownership and quality
Conditions
- US Remote Eligible; must live in a state where Airbnb has a registered entity
- Base pay range $248,000 - $310,000 USD, plus bonus, equity and benefits
