Responsibilities
  • Own the technical direction and architecture of trading-related services, making informed trade-offs while considering long-term scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Lead roadmap planning and delivery by translating ambiguous business objectives into prioritized, sequenced engineering work and ensuring predictable execution.
  • Stay hands-on with development, contributing code, participating in design reviews, and maintaining a high technical standard across the team's systems.
  • Manage day-to-day engineering execution, including planning cycles, removing blockers, tracking work, and maintaining clear visibility for stakeholders.
  • Own production reliability, latency, throughput, and correctness targets, including on-call health, incident response, and follow-through on corrective actions.
  • Hire, onboard, mentor, and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, performance management, and career development.
  • Collaborate closely with product, operations, compliance, clearing, and other engineering teams to deliver cross-functional initiatives.
  • Establish strong engineering practices around system design, observability, benchmarking, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Senior- or Staff-level software engineering experience with a proven track record of leading engineers, either as a formal people manager or technical lead.
  • Previous professional software engineering experience within trading or exchange environments, such as OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic trading, or quantitative trading.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, provide constructive feedback, and raise the technical capabilities of a team.
  • Strong track record delivering complex systems, including defining scope, sequencing work, managing trade-offs, and making pragmatic decisions under ambiguity.
  • Strong coding experience across low- and high-level languages such as C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, or Python.
  • Deep knowledge of low-latency and high-throughput optimization, concurrency, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, and algorithms.
  • Experience with messaging queues and message brokers, service-oriented architectures, system abstraction, and object-oriented data modeling.
  • Experience developing and implementing Order Management Systems (OMS) and Risk Management Systems (RMS).
  • Strong analytical and data-oriented problem-solving skills, with the ability to reason about complex technical and operational challenges.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity, limited process, and the fast pace of an early-stage technology environment.
  • Experience with financial markets, exchanges, broker-dealers, clearing, financial ledgers, or related infrastructure is highly valuable.
  • Familiarity with FIX protocol, observability, tracing, continuous profiling, benchmarking, statistical or quantitative analysis, and production trading systems is a plus.
  • Experience with major cloud platforms, particularly GCP, as well as Docker and Kubernetes, is beneficial.
  • Experience hiring and building engineering teams from a small base and working with distributed teams across time zones is advantageous.
Conditions
  • Competitive salary and stock options.
  • Health benefits.
  • One-time USD $500 home-office setup allowance for new hires.
  • USD $150 monthly stipend provided through a company payment card.
  • Remote work environment with a globally distributed team.
  • Opportunity to lead and shape a high-impact engineering team working on trading technology.
  • Significant hands-on technical ownership across architecture, performance, reliability, and product delivery.
  • Equal-opportunity workplace committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
