This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cloud Engineering Manager based in Germany.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a growing engineering team responsible for modern cloud infrastructure and managed services.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a growing engineering team, improving both development velocity and operational quality.
- Establish and maintain effective engineering and operations processes that promote reliability, maintainability, and consistent delivery.
- Define and monitor team health indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and support high-performing teams.
- Represent the engineering team with customers, internal stakeholders, product engineering groups, operations teams, and external partners.
- Ensure teams remain aligned with priorities, milestones, deliverables, and customer commitments.
- Oversee managed service operations for customer environments and help ensure service-level agreements are consistently achieved.
- Drive continuous improvement across customer deployments, engineering practices, operational processes, and service quality.
- Support the delivery of reliable and consistent managed cloud services across customer environments worldwide.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance when addressing complex distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and operational challenges.
- Foster effective collaboration within globally distributed teams while maintaining clear communication and accountability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in a technology-related field.
- Proven professional experience in software delivery using technologies such as Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar, and/or experience managing technical operations teams.
- Demonstrated professional experience with OpenStack.
- Strong understanding of engineering practices, including testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
- Experience with Linux system administration; Ubuntu or Debian experience is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of cloud topologies, technologies, and distributed systems.
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to understand and communicate complex infrastructure and engineering concepts.
- Experience with agile software development methodologies and modern engineering practices.
- Demonstrated experience working within and managing globally distributed teams.
- Strong communication, cooperation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to balance technical considerations, operational requirements, customer expectations, and team priorities.
- Self-motivated and disciplined approach to working effectively in a distributed environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel for team, company, and customer events, generally up to approximately 20% of the time.
- Additional experience with Kubernetes, Ceph, related cloud infrastructure, Linux software engineering, or open-source technologies is valuable.
