Our partner is looking for a Sr. Image Processing Engineer based in United States. This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building advanced image processing and medical imaging solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and validate scalable image processing solutions for healthcare applications, with a strong focus on medical imaging and DICOM-based workflows.
- Design and enhance algorithms for compression, segmentation, contour detection, feature extraction, classification, target detection, tracking, and related image processing capabilities.
- Configure, implement, and troubleshoot DICOM services, including Store, Storage Commitment, Query/Retrieve, and Modality Worklist.
- Build and support DICOM-based integrations and data migrations across healthcare systems, including interoperability workflows using IHE XDS standards.
- Design distributed systems, data pipelines, platform APIs, DNS caching solutions, and other scalable cloud-based components.
- Work with healthcare imaging ecosystems such as PACS, VNA, and RIS while ensuring reliable integration with clinical workflows.
- Contribute across the complete software development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Apply DevOps principles with a customer-first mindset, emphasizing secure, reliable, and scalable software delivery.
- Protect the privacy, confidentiality, and security of sensitive patient information obtained through healthcare partnerships.
- Drive complete features and technical initiatives while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.
- Research emerging image processing approaches and communicate technical findings through reports, presentations, and visual representations of data.
- Learn quickly, adapt to evolving product requirements, and iterate rapidly to improve solutions and user outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; a Master’s degree or Ph.D. is a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and integrating complex imaging systems and/or medical image diagnosis software.
- Strong development experience with C# and/or C++.
- At least 3 years of hands-on DICOM development and troubleshooting experience.
- Strong knowledge of DICOM standards, with 3+ years of experience developing or extending DICOM servers such as dcm4che or Orthanc.
- Experience developing healthcare technology components and workflows involving PACS, VNA, RIS, or similar systems.
- Experience building DICOM-based integrations using IHE XDS standards for interoperability across healthcare environments.
- Familiarity with DICOM and related healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with DICOM development and diagnostic tools such as DCMTK, JDICOM, or OpenDICOM.
- Experience debugging native DLLs and working with binary data formats is advantageous.
- Experience with containers and Kubernetes is a plus.
- Strong understanding of secure, reliable, and scalable software architecture, particularly within cloud-based or distributed environments.
- Ability to work effectively in a DevOps environment, collaborate across teams, and maintain a strong customer focus.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor less-experienced engineers and take ownership of complex technical initiatives.
