Data Science Manager

Deliveroo is transforming the way people shop and eat. Our Data Science organisation sits at the heart of Deliveroo, powering decision-making across product, commercial and operational teams through experimentation, causal inference and applied machine learning.

• Own the analytical direction and impact of a defined area within Delivery, while leading and developing a team of approximately 4 to 6 data scientists.
• Provide structure, coaching and technical direction to help the team operate effectively in a complex, fast-moving environment.
• Identify the highest-value problems, guide the team towards the right analytical approach and ensure the work leads to clear operational, product and commercial decisions.
• Apply systems thinking to reason through interactions and support informed trade-offs.
• Work closely with stakeholders across Operations, Product, Machine Learning and Engineering.
• Spend a meaningful portion of time on direct technical contribution, such as investigating market changes, interpreting experiments and unblocking complex problems.
• Maintain high analytical standards, delegate effectively and support team development through coaching and feedback.

• Experience line managing data scientists and developing high-performing teams.
• A strong background as a senior data science individual contributor.
• Strong expertise in experimentation and causal inference.
• The ability to reason through complex systems and understand how changes in one area affect wider network outcomes.
• Experience translating analysis into operational, product or commercial decisions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working with senior leaders.
• The ability to bring structure to ambiguity, prioritise effectively and shape a clear roadmap.
• Experience in economics, marketplaces, logistics, mobility, supply and demand, pricing or operations would be valuable, but is not essential.

• This role is based in London and sits within the wider Delivery Data Science team.
• You’ll report to a Senior Data Science Manager and partner closely with Operations, Product, Machine Learning and Engineering teams.
