This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Appian Junior Developer based in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, troubleshoot, and maintain Appian applications supporting complex business and operational workflows.
- Support the remediation, conversion, and modernization of custom Appian plugins to meet updated platform standards and compatibility requirements.
- Investigate and resolve issues involving custom plugins, integrations, and application functionality.
- Collaborate with architects and senior developers to implement scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
- Support Appian platform upgrades and associated application modernization activities.
- Develop and maintain reusable components, shared services, and integration frameworks.
- Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and solution implementation activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment instructions, and application support materials.
- Support integrations involving APIs, web services, databases, and external systems.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for application functionality and reporting requirements.
- Apply established coding standards, security requirements, and software development best practices.
- Work with QA teams on testing, defect resolution, and deployment readiness.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to estimation, technical planning, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and delivery coordination.
- Support modernization initiatives, technical debt reduction, plugin remediation, and platform optimization.
- Identify opportunities to improve development efficiency, application maintainability, and operational stability.
- Stay current with Appian platform updates, development practices, and emerging capabilities, including relevant AI features.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and collaboration across the broader technical practice.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on Appian development experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience developing and supporting Appian applications within Agile software delivery environments.
- Experience with custom Appian plugins, Java-based development, or integration components.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and secure coding principles.
- Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries.
- Experience with Git, GitLab, or comparable source-control workflows.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional Agile teams.
- Appian Certified Associate Developer or Appian Certified Senior Developer certification is preferred.
- Experience with Appian platform upgrades, plugin remediation, or modernization initiatives is advantageous.
- Experience developing or maintaining custom Appian plugins using Java is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Docker, or containerized deployments is preferred.
- Experience with AWS-hosted or other cloud-based application environments is beneficial.
- Familiarity with REST/SOAP integrations and API development is advantageous.
- Exposure to Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms is a plus.
- Exposure to Appian AI capabilities, AI Skills, AI Copilot, AI Document Processing, or other emerging platform features is beneficial.
- Experience supporting federal government or public-sector technology programs is a plus.
- Experience contributing to knowledge transfer and cross-team technical collaboration is desirable.
- Successful candidates must be able to complete a government background investigation and meet the requirements to hold a position of public trust.
Conditions
- $85,000–$110,000 annual salary.
