This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Security Engineer based in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve secure network and cloud architectures across hybrid environments, including AWS, GCP, Azure, and physical data centers.
- Assess network and cloud environments for security gaps, attack-surface exposure, control weaknesses, and opportunities for risk reduction.
- Architect scalable network connection patterns, segmentation strategies, traffic inspection architectures, and secure connectivity models that support business and product growth.
- Lead threat modeling activities focused on architecture, data flows, network connectivity, and platform services.
- Build scalable monitoring, alerting, and automation capabilities that identify and respond to network and cloud security risks.
- Evaluate the evolving threat landscape and business priorities to identify, prioritize, and execute the highest-impact security improvements.
- Establish secure-by-design architecture patterns and contribute to near- and medium-term strategic direction for network and cloud infrastructure security.
- Partner with product engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams to understand scaling requirements and translate them into practical security solutions.
- Facilitate alignment across teams, build consensus around complex security decisions, and communicate architectural direction to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Document technical decisions and security architecture through design documents, technical presentations, knowledge bases, and other engineering resources.
- Develop deep subject matter expertise in cloud security controls and serve as a trusted security advisor across the engineering organization.
- Leverage AI technologies where appropriate to improve security decision-making, workflows, automation, and team effectiveness.
- Mentor engineers and interns through pairing, design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Promote a strong security culture by sharing expertise, influencing engineering practices, and acting as a role model for secure development and architecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Deep networking expertise across hybrid environments, including public cloud and physical data centers, with strong knowledge of routing, segmentation, zone design, and traffic inspection.
- Strong cloud security experience, including the ability to identify gaps in security controls and coverage across hybrid cloud environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing secure, scalable connectivity patterns for SaaS, cloud-native, or distributed product environments.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, TLS, and applied cryptography.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, and/or Azure security controls and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience building security monitoring, alerting, and automation solutions in dynamic environments.
- Scripting and automation proficiency using Python, Go, shell, or comparable languages.
- Understanding of security architecture principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Experience with IaaS/PaaS networking constructs such as VPCs, transit gateways, private endpoints, and service meshes is valuable.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture, CI/CD security, operational security systems, and security requirements for regulated SaaS environments is preferred.
- Experience leveraging AI technologies to improve security capabilities, operational efficiency, decision-making, or workflows.
- Proven ability to work independently on broad, ambiguous problems and drive initiatives through to resolution.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to participate in technical debates, build consensus, and explain complex security concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving product environments.
- A combination of technical confidence, independent thinking, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset.
- Prior formal mentoring experience is a plus.
Conditions
- Base salary range of $120,000–$180,000 per year for U.S. candidates, with placement dependent on experience, skills, certifications, job level, and location.
