About the company

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director I, AP Computer Science Principles Curriculum and Assessment based in United States.

Responsibilities
  • Lead assessment development for AP Computer Science Principles, overseeing the authoring, revision, review, scoring, and management of assessment content and materials.
  • Develop and maintain assessment forms that align with approved curriculum frameworks, test specifications, disciplinary standards, and established quality expectations.
  • Train, supervise, and collaborate with educator subject-matter experts participating in assessment development committees, ensuring productive meetings and high-quality contributions.
  • Facilitate annual assessment development and scoring activities, including virtual and in-person meetings, scoring events, and associated preparation and follow-up.
  • Apply generative AI and other emerging technologies thoughtfully and appropriately to support assessment creation, review, efficiency, fairness, validity, and innovation.
  • Monitor assessment validity, reliability, security, fairness, reader performance, and overall quality, working with psychometric and assessment teams to identify and address improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate on establishing reliable and valid scoring standards and cut scores for AP Computer Science Principles assessments.
  • Contribute to the refinement of the course framework, ensuring learning outcomes remain current, explicit, rigorous, and aligned with higher education and disciplinary expectations.
  • Partner with professional learning, higher education, and other internal teams to develop teacher resources, instructional products, educator engagement initiatives, and opportunities that strengthen the reach and impact of the program.
  • Recruit and engage educators and college faculty to support assessment development, scoring, professional learning, and other program activities.
  • Serve as a trusted subject-matter resource within the broader educator and academic community, including presenting, speaking, moderating discussions, and participating in stakeholder events when appropriate.
  • Contribute to research, assessment best practices, process improvement, and strategic initiatives across mathematics, computer science, cybersecurity, and related academic programs.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a directly related discipline is required; a doctorate in the field is strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in standardized assessment development or closely related work, with demonstrated expertise in Computer Science Principles.
  • Experience with digital assessment and teaching is preferred, along with strong knowledge of current trends and developments in computer science.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical and academic concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management, organizational, planning, and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, stakeholders, and detailed deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and improve processes, maintain tracking documentation, proofread carefully, and deliver high-quality work within established timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with educators, academics, technical specialists, psychometricians, and cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback and building productive relationships across different professional and academic communities.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies and willingness to experiment with, learn, and responsibly apply AI-enabled tools and digital solutions.
  • A learner’s mindset, strong customer focus, and commitment to continuous improvement, data-informed decision-making, and educational impact.
  • Ability to travel approximately 6–8 times per year, plus up to two additional weeks for the annual AP Reading.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
