About the company
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, AI Agents based in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Rapidly prototype and develop proofs of concept that explore innovative ways to integrate AI into data and marketing workflows.
- Design and architect production-grade LLM applications and pipelines, making thoughtful decisions around AI architectures, frameworks, and technical approaches.
- Build production data agents capable of using customer and business data to answer analytics, data science, and marketing-related questions.
- Translate customer needs and real-world workflows into intuitive AI-assisted product experiences.
- Work closely with product and engineering stakeholders to take projects from initial concept through architecture, implementation, iteration, and production.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and approaches, identifying opportunities to improve product capabilities, reliability, usability, and performance.
- Balance rapid experimentation with scalable engineering practices when moving successful prototypes into production.
- Apply strong product judgment to technical decisions, ensuring AI solutions solve meaningful customer problems rather than simply demonstrating technical capabilities.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of ambiguous problems and driving them toward practical, measurable outcomes.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering experience, particularly in backend architecture and building complex production systems.
- Demonstrated ability to take technical projects from initial concept through implementation and production.
- Strong product intuition and customer orientation, with the ability to understand user needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Experience designing or architecting data-processing systems, distributed systems, APIs, or other backend infrastructure.
- Creative and intellectually curious approach to applying emerging technologies to real-world problems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguous technical and product challenges independently.
- Ability to rapidly prototype ideas while also understanding how to build reliable, maintainable production systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working across technical and product disciplines.
- Comfort making architectural and technical decisions with limited direction and taking full ownership of outcomes.
- Prior hands-on experience with LLMs, AI agents, or generative AI is not required, but genuine interest in the space and willingness to learn quickly are essential.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment where impact and growth are valued alongside traditional measures of seniority.
Conditions
- Annual salary range of $180,000–$400,000 USD, with compensation designed to be location-independent under a remote-first approach.
- Fully remote work environment across North America.
- Opportunity to work at the forefront of AI, LLM applications, and agentic systems.
- Significant autonomy and ownership over technical architecture and product direction.
- Opportunity to build production AI systems that directly address complex data and marketing use cases.
- A senior-level role focused on impact, technical growth, and potential rather than years of experience alone.
- Collaborative environment with ambitious, impact-driven colleagues who value humility, kindness, and customer focus.
- Interview process centered on product sense, AI creativity, backend architecture, and values alignment rather than traditional programming interviews.
