Responsibilities
- Design and develop cost-effective normal-conducting magnet technologies for the FCC, from concept and modelling through prototyping and system integration.
- Study and propose manufacturing and procurement strategies for FCC magnets, tailored to the scale of the project and targeting an efficient and effective production, installation and maintenance.
- Plan, organise and coordinate the maintenance, repair, testing and modification of existing magnets in operation, including specific renovation campaigns, applying the experience gained to the development of FCC magnets.
- Prepare technical specifications, reports and other engineering documentation, and communicate technical results to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in the design or construction of accelerator magnets or comparable complex electromechanical equipment.
- Experience in analysing mechanical or magnetic measurements and using them to validate and improve designs.
- Experience in the procurement of magnets or similar equipment, either in industry or in a laboratory, would be an asset.
- Technical competencies: Design and modelling of normal conducting magnets and permanent magnet systems; Operation and maintenance of normal conducting magnet systems; Design and analysis of mechanical structures; Knowledge and application of magnetic materials, and electric insulations; Construction, test and installation of electromechanical equipment and systems.
- Behavioural competencies: Demonstrating Accountability; Communicating Effectively; Learning and Sharing Knowledge; Working in Teams.
- Language skills: Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
Conditions
- Contract type: Limited duration contract (5 years). Subject to certain conditions, holders of limited-duration contracts may apply for an indefinite position.
