Principal Data Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Administer the Snowflake platform: accounts, virtual warehouses, databases, environments, configurations, upgrades
• Maintain Snowflake connectors, drivers, Snowpipe, and partner tools
• Design, implement, and support integrations between Snowflake, source systems, AWS services, APIs, ETL/ELT tools, and downstream consumers
• Implement network policies, encryption, data masking, audit logging, and other security controls
• Develop monitoring, alerting, usage tracking, and performance visibility
• Automate platform operations with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD using Terraform
• Optimize warehouse sizing, resource utilization, and credit consumption
• Create and maintain platform standards, documentation, runbooks
• Serve as technical point of contact for Snowflake vendor engagement

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• At least 10 years in data engineering, database administration, or data platform roles
• At least 3 years hands-on Snowflake administration in production enterprise environment
• Strong experience with Snowpipe, connectors, APIs, ETL/ELT tooling
• Strong experience with AWS and services integrated with Snowflake
• Advanced SQL and scripting with Python or similar
• Experience with security controls for PII, PHI, and HIPAA requirements
• Strong communication and ability to influence technical leaders
• Preferred: Terraform or other IaC tools
• Preferred: SnowPro Core and SnowPro Advanced Administrator or Architect certifications
• Preferred: dbt, Airflow, or similar orchestration tools
• Background in insurance, claims, healthcare, or financial services is beneficial

Conditions

• Annual base salary: $133,000–$170,000
• Fully remote anywhere in the United States
