About the company

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Medical Information based in United States.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic development, implementation, and ongoing evolution of the Medical Information function, supporting current and future pipeline assets.
  • Develop and execute the Medical Information strategy, operating model, governance framework, and service delivery approach, including oversight of external vendors and call center operations.
  • Build scalable capabilities across processes, systems, standard operating procedures, content management, and workflows to support evolving Medical Affairs priorities.
  • Oversee the creation, scientific review, approval, maintenance, and lifecycle management of accurate, balanced, and compliant Medical Information response documents and related content.
  • Partner with Scientific Communications, Medical Education, Evidence Generation, Publications, and Field Medical teams to ensure consistent scientific messaging and effective Medical Information resources.
  • Establish and optimize governance, policies, and procedures in alignment with applicable regulations, industry standards, and internal requirements.
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and analytics to monitor performance, identify trends, evaluate service quality, and drive continuous operational improvement.
  • Analyze medical inquiry trends and insights to identify evidence gaps and inform Medical Affairs strategy, scientific communications, educational priorities, and future evidence generation.
  • Identify and implement innovative technologies, digital capabilities, and improved service models that enhance operational efficiency and the experience of Medical Information users.
  • Support Medical-Legal-Regulatory review processes and other appropriate cross-functional governance activities.
  • Build, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Medical Information organization while fostering scientific excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Influence cross-functional decisions and initiatives across a matrix organization, building consensus and driving execution without relying solely on formal authority.
Requirements
  • Advanced scientific or medical degree such as PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of experience within the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • At least 6 years of experience in Medical Information, Medical Affairs, Medical Communications, or a related scientific function.
  • At least 4 years of people leadership and/or management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building or leading Medical Information capabilities spanning strategy, operations, content, governance, and vendor management.
  • Experience in neuroscience, psychiatry, CNS, or specialty therapeutics is preferred.
  • Experience supporting pre-commercial Medical Affairs, commercialization readiness, and/or product launch planning is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable FDA regulations and industry guidance related to Medical Information, scientific exchange, adverse event reporting, and product quality complaint reporting.
  • Experience with Medical Information vendors, contact center operations, content management systems, and related technologies.
  • Proven ability to establish and optimize Medical Information metrics, dashboards, analytics, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Strong scientific writing, medical content development, and content review capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret medical inquiry trends and translate insights into actionable Medical Affairs strategies and evidence or educational opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across Medical Affairs, Scientific Communications, Medical Education, Evidence Generation, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development, Legal, Compliance, and Commercial functions.
  • Exceptional strategic leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and evolving biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Proven experience influencing stakeholders without direct authority, building consensus, and leading complex initiatives in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to build, mentor, and retain high-performing teams while promoting a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Excellent prioritization and adaptability when managing multiple initiatives and changing business needs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 10%.

Conditions
  • Base salary: $210,000–$255,000 USD annually, with final compensation determined by qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and work location.
