MongoDB is the data platform for AI builders. We're forming a brand new engineering team in the AI Builders Experience org to ship integrations into fast-moving open-source ecosystems like LangChain, LlamaIndex, and n8n.
Responsibilities
- Hire and lead a team of Python and TypeScript engineers building MongoDB integrations across AI frameworks.
- Execute effectively in a fast-moving environment, delivering quickly while maintaining high technical quality.
- Flag issues early and manage dependencies on drivers, platform capabilities, and other MongoDB product surfaces.
- Collaborate with product managers, program managers, sales, GTM, and peer engineering teams to define and prioritize capabilities.
- Work with external open-source maintainers to land high-quality upstream contributions.
- Jump into exploratory work, guide key decisions, and unblock the team.
- Own monitoring, operations, maintenance, and quality of the integration portfolio.
- Develop sustainable engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and version compatibility.
- Keep the team current with Python, TypeScript, and AI builder ecosystems.
- Bring a research and discovery mindset to guide roadmap and investment decisions.
Requirements
- 8+ years building developer platforms, libraries, or high-scale technical systems, with strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript.
- 3+ years managing a team of software engineers and providing technical leadership.
- Experience with query optimization (especially MongoDB) and AI coding tools; distributed systems experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated success hiring, mentoring, and growing high-performing engineering teams.
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving technical landscape with frequent context switching.
- Strong technical depth in developer-facing software and architectural judgment.
- Experience launching new features or systems and operating them in production.
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication.
- Track record of escalating issues early and fostering a culture of intellectual honesty and collaboration.
- Strong interest in modern AI builder workflows and developer tooling.
