About the company

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Tax Analyst – Strategy & Incentives based in United States.

This is a high-impact tax strategy role focused on maximizing incentives and improving capital efficiency across a rapidly expanding infrastructure footprint.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary tax liaison for business initiatives, identifying tax implications early in contract negotiations, site selection activities, and operational changes.
  • Evaluate state and local data center tax incentives, exemption programs, statutory credits, and other opportunities across existing and potential infrastructure locations.
  • Manage end-to-end incentive applications, tax filings, and sales/use tax exemption registrations directly for standard statutory programs.
  • Coordinate external tax advisors, legal counsel, and economic development consultants on complex incentive negotiations, site selection engagements, and specialized jurisdictional matters.
  • Develop financial models covering tax savings, capital expenditure thresholds, return on investment, and other factors to support site selection and infrastructure investment decisions.
  • Partner with Real Estate, Infrastructure, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to assess tax implications and communicate recommendations clearly to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Manage the ongoing compliance lifecycle for secured incentives, tracking capital expenditures, power utilization, job creation commitments, and other requirements to prevent clawbacks.
  • Administer sales and use tax exemption certificates and direct-pay permits for qualifying server, storage, GPU, cooling, and power equipment purchases.
  • Maintain tax-related internal controls, reconciliations, and data integrity while supporting recurring audits and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor legislative developments, state incentive programs, statutory changes, and emerging green-energy tax opportunities to identify risks and potential savings.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in U.S. State and Local Tax (SALT), with specialization in location incentives, indirect tax exemptions, or corporate state tax planning.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Direct experience with state data center incentive frameworks, sales/use tax equipment exemptions, and property tax abatements.
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities, with the ability to translate complex tax regulations into clear financial projections and business recommendations.
  • Proven experience managing external service providers, accounting firms, law firms, tax advisors, or consulting teams while maintaining project milestones and budget efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of state and local tax regulations and the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving infrastructure environment.
  • CPA or JD preferred.
  • Previous experience with a State Department of Revenue, State Economic Development Agency, or local taxing authority is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple jurisdictions, competing priorities, and complex incentive initiatives with strong attention to detail.
Conditions
  • Competitive salary range of $100,000–$120,000, with final compensation based on experience, skills, location, and applicable laws.
  • 100% company-paid premiums for employee medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with a 100% employer match on contributions up to 4%, with immediate vesting.
  • $2,500 annual professional development reimbursement.
  • 11 paid holidays plus paid time off accrual and rollover options.
  • Increased PTO at three- and ten-year anniversaries.
  • One-month paid sabbatical every five years.
  • Annual anniversary bonus.
  • $500 remote office setup stipend in the first year and $400 annually thereafter.
  • Internet reimbursement of up to $75 per month.
  • Gym membership reimbursement of up to $50 per month.
  • Company-paid Wellable wellness subscription.
  • Opportunity to contribute to high-impact tax strategy supporting large-scale cloud and AI infrastructure expansion.
  • Exposure to complex multi-state tax matters, strategic site selection, incentive negotiations, and cross-functional business initiatives.
