This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineering Manager (Core Workspaces) based in United States.
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a team building the systems that power modern, agentic software development environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and grow a software engineering team within the Core Workspaces organization, creating clarity around priorities, expectations, and technical direction.
- Set and communicate technical direction across agent harnesses, integrations, developer workflows, and workspace capabilities.
- Remain technically engaged and contribute to architecture, implementation, and important engineering decisions.
- Evolve systems for agent execution, tool use, context management, streaming, and long-running workflows.
- Extend provider-agnostic architecture so the platform can adapt as AI models, capabilities, and technologies evolve.
- Partner closely with Product and Design to translate emerging agent capabilities into intuitive, valuable developer experiences.
- Improve reliability, performance, scalability, observability, and operational excellence across agentic systems.
- Coach engineers, support career development, provide technical mentorship, and raise the overall engineering bar.
- Navigate ambiguity and complex technical tradeoffs while maintaining strong execution across multiple priorities.
- Collaborate across engineering teams and functions to build scalable solutions and maintain alignment around architectural goals.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing and growing software engineering teams while maintaining a high standard for technical execution.
- Strong hands-on software engineering background with React and TypeScript, combined with experience developing backend systems in Go.
- Practical experience building systems involving LLMs and agentic workflows, including model APIs, tool calling, context management, agent loops, or related technologies.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and the architectural principles required to build reliable, scalable software.
- Working knowledge of AWS and modern cloud-based development environments.
- Strong technical judgment, problem-solving ability, and comfort making decisions in ambiguous and rapidly evolving environments.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers, develop technical talent, and create a culture of ownership and accountability.
- Experience with coding agents, developer tools, or cloud development environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with MCP, agent tools, multi-agent systems, remote execution, sandboxing, or isolated compute is a plus.
- Experience creating abstractions across multiple AI model providers is advantageous.
- Deeper experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, or Linux is beneficial.
- Open-source contributions or direct customer-facing engineering experience would be an advantage.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Design, Engineering, and other stakeholders while communicating complex technical concepts clearly.
