About the company

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director/Director, Medical Science Liaisons (Neuromuscular/DMD) based in United States.

Responsibilities
  • Build and lead a high-performing MSL organization, defining its vision, territory structure, strategic priorities, tactical plans, resources, and budgets.
  • Develop field medical strategies and tactics aligned with broader Medical Affairs objectives and therapeutic-area priorities.
  • Recruit, onboard, coach, mentor, and develop MSLs, including establishing scientific training programs, materials, and performance expectations.
  • Lead thought-leader mapping and key opinion leader (KOL) engagement strategies while developing strong relationships with national experts and clinical investigators.
  • Ensure MSL teams have current and effective scientific resources, including clinical communications, presentations, educational materials, FAQs, publications, and related content.
  • Capture and communicate field insights, competitive intelligence, and emerging scientific trends to internal stakeholders to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Provide clinical expertise and support clinical trial recruitment, investigator engagement, and site outreach in collaboration with Clinical Operations and Clinical Development.
  • Represent Medical Affairs at medical congresses and contribute to congress strategy, planning, logistics, booth activities, scientific meetings, and post-congress reporting.
  • Support advisory boards, natural history studies, and other Medical Affairs initiatives, while maintaining strong scientific and clinical knowledge across relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Lead complex field-based projects, proactively identify potential challenges, and coordinate cross-functional solutions.
  • Travel approximately 50–70% of the time to support field engagement, conferences, investigators, and internal initiatives.
Requirements
  • Doctorate or master’s-level degree required, such as MD, PharmD, PhD, MPH, or equivalent advanced scientific or clinical qualification.
  • At least 5 years of Medical Science Liaison experience and 3 years of experience managing MSL teams or equivalent field medical organizations.
  • Demonstrated therapeutic-area expertise in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) or rare pediatric neuromuscular diseases; gene therapy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to recruit, lead, motivate, coach, and develop high-performing field medical professionals.
  • Experience establishing goals, developing field strategies, and leading medical affairs initiatives across geographically distributed teams.
  • Excellent scientific communication, interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with KOLs and other external experts.
  • Ability to rapidly understand and communicate new clinical data and translate complex scientific information into meaningful field insights.
  • Strong project management, medical writing, organizational, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Demonstrated proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate issues, prioritize effectively, and drive solutions independently.
  • Flexible, resilient, resourceful, entrepreneurial, and innovative mindset, combined with a strong commitment to ethical and compliant Medical Affairs practices.
Conditions
  • Competitive annual salary of approximately $206,000–$290,000 for the Director level and $240,000–$340,000 for the Senior Director level, with final compensation based on experience, skills, education, and other relevant factors.
