About the company

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manual Test Engineer based in the United States.

This remote role offers the opportunity to play a key part in ensuring the quality, reliability, and usability of healthcare software products.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, review, and execute comprehensive manual test cases and scenarios covering SIT, UAT, end-to-end, regression, and business process validation.
  • Analyze business, functional, and technical requirements and translate them into detailed test conditions while ensuring complete requirements coverage.
  • Create and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs) and identify test dependencies, risks, assumptions, and constraints.
  • Execute manual testing across healthcare software, including user interfaces, workflows, eligibility processes, benefit determination, and complex integrated business processes.
  • Document test results with clear evidence, maintain auditability, and communicate findings effectively to project and client stakeholders.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects throughout the complete defect lifecycle.
  • Participate in defect triage activities and collaborate with development, business, vendor, and project teams to investigate and resolve issues.
  • Apply knowledge of defect severity, priority, root-cause analysis, remediation, and retesting procedures.
  • Create, maintain, and coordinate test data required for SIT and UAT execution in collaboration with business, technical, and data conversion teams.
  • Work closely with development teams to validate fixes and ensure that defects are resolved according to requirements.
  • Contribute to comprehensive testing strategies, plans, environments, and quality processes under the direction of the Test Manager.
  • Communicate regularly with customer and project stakeholders to clarify requirements, discuss defects, and support successful delivery.
Requirements
  • 2–5 years of professional experience as a software tester, with at least 3 years of hands-on testing experience in large-scale systems or complex portfolios.
  • Experience with U.S. healthcare payer systems, preferably MMIS/MES, Medicaid, Medicare, eligibility, benefits, or similarly integrated healthcare platforms.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare data privacy requirements.
  • Proven experience developing and executing SIT, UAT, end-to-end, regression, and business process validation test scenarios and test cases.
  • Ability to analyze complex business, functional, and technical requirements and convert them into comprehensive, traceable test coverage.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Requirements Traceability Matrices and validating coverage against business requirements.
  • Strong defect management skills, including identification, documentation, prioritization, tracking, triage, root-cause analysis, and retesting.
  • Experience testing complex user interfaces, workflows, eligibility processes, benefit assessments, and determination processes.
  • Ability to create and manage test data and coordinate data requirements across business, technical, and conversion teams.
  • Understanding of database concepts and basic SQL query development.
  • Basic understanding of programming concepts and scripting languages.
  • Proficiency with test and defect management platforms such as Jira, Jama, Xray, Zephyr, TestRail, QTest, or ALM.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with development teams, business analysts, vendors, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting State Medicaid modernization or MMIS programs and public-sector healthcare initiatives is preferred.
