Responsibilities
- Tackle the deepest, most systemic architectural challenges in Payoneer’s platform owning end-to-end migrations, building shared infrastructure, and creating the tooling that enables every product team to move faster and more safely.
- Operate with a native agentic mindset: apply AI-assisted development across every phase of our work: automated code generation, AI-driven migration scripts, intelligent test generation, code review, and documentation.
- Build tooling that multiplies the output of every engineer working on modernization challenges.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in backend engineering in Node.js with strong fundamentals and production experience.
- Solid experience and understanding of distributed systems: messaging, caching, microservice communication patterns, and failure modes.
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure comfortable with the ecosystem even if not expert level in every service.
- Ability to own complex technical work end to end, from design through production.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or equivalent) as a day-to-day engineering practice not a nice-to-have.
- Proven track record of driving architectural decisions with cross-team impact you have moved systems forward, not just improved them incrementally.
- Experience with large-scale migration programs: decomposing monoliths, rearchitecting data layers, or migrating messaging infrastructure in production environments.
- Strong communication skills; comfortable working across team boundaries.
- Nice to have:
- .NET background, especially if you have migrated services from .NET to a modern stack.
- Experience building or operating shared platform infrastructure consumed by multiple teams.
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture patterns: outbox pattern, saga pattern.
