Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine learning infrastructure supporting supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning
• Develop distributed real-time systems for high-volume fraud detection
• Build large-scale data pipelines using Apache Spark, Hadoop, HBase, and Cassandra
• Implement streaming solutions with Apache Kafka and Apache Flink
• Improve detection algorithms and optimize data processing workflows
• Build internal tools and validation frameworks
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Contribute to architectural decisions for data-intensive applications
• Collaborate with software engineers, ML experts, and infrastructure specialists

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience
• At least 5 years with Java, Python, and Shell scripting
• Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, and database design
• Familiarity with JPA2 and Hibernate is an advantage
• Experience with Cassandra, HBase, Spark, Hadoop, Flink, or Kafka desirable
• Interest in ML systems, large-scale data processing, and streaming architectures
• Test-driven development and automated testing experience is an asset
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
• Based in Canada, remote-friendly (Calgary preferred)

Conditions

• Annual salary CAD $120,000 to $150,000 depending on experience
