This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sales Director, Data Solutions based in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Own revenue and growth: Take full ownership of the business number, originating and closing strategic opportunities across institutional investment markets while establishing disciplined pricing, packaging, pipeline management, and forecasting practices.
- Drive strategic client relationships: Build trusted relationships with senior investment professionals and data strategists, acting as executive sponsor for key accounts and driving adoption, retention, expansion, and long-term commercial value.
- Lead and develop the team: Manage, coach, and mentor sales and account support professionals, modeling effective prospecting and enterprise selling while evolving the organization as the business scales.
- Build a predictable sales engine: Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities, establish effective sales processes, and consistently deliver against revenue objectives.
- Translate market needs into product direction: Capture customer and investor insights and work closely with product, data, and engineering teams to influence roadmap priorities and improve solutions.
- Navigate complex enterprise sales: Lead sophisticated buying processes involving multiple stakeholders, demonstrating the business value of alternative data and analytics solutions to investment organizations.
- Shape the business: Operate with an entrepreneurial mindset, identifying emerging opportunities, testing new approaches, and creating structure and scalable processes where needed.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience in alternative data, financial information services, data solutions, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of experience selling data or analytics products to institutional investors or comparable sophisticated financial-services buyers.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing sales, account management, client success, or related commercial teams, with a demonstrated commitment to coaching and talent development.
- Established investor network: Strong relationships across hedge funds, asset managers, private equity, venture capital, and family offices, combined with a strong understanding of how institutional investors evaluate, purchase, and use alternative data.
- Proven enterprise sales performance: Demonstrated success originating and closing complex, high-value deals and consistently exceeding revenue targets.
- Strong product instincts: Ability to understand customer problems and translate client feedback and market intelligence into actionable product opportunities.
- Commercial and strategic judgment: Comfortable balancing revenue goals, customer needs, pricing, product considerations, and long-term business strategy.
- Entrepreneurial ownership: Comfortable working with ambiguity, experimenting rapidly, making decisions with incomplete information, and building structure and processes from the ground up.
- Exceptional communication and influence: Able to engage credibly with senior executives, investment professionals, internal leadership, and cross-functional teams.
