About the company

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Interoperability based in the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Define and own the multi-year interoperability vision, strategy, roadmap, and measurable objectives, connecting data exchange capabilities to clinical quality, operational efficiency, and data reliability.
  • Lead interoperability compliance efforts across an evolving regulatory landscape, including CMS interoperability and prior authorization requirements, while preparing the organization for future regulatory developments.
  • Build, lead, and scale multidisciplinary data exchange operations, including clinical data acquisition, integration operations, and telephony.
  • Create alignment across Clinical, Operations, Engineering, Data, Legal, Compliance, and other stakeholder groups, resolving systemic barriers that limit effective data exchange.
  • Develop and manage a strategic portfolio of high-value vendor relationships, including multi-million-dollar partnerships, with a focus on capability, cost, integration risk, and long-term value.
  • Represent the organization with provider partners, regulators, industry forums, and other external stakeholders, helping shape relationships and, where appropriate, interoperability policy.
  • Translate complex interoperability standards, market developments, and regulatory requirements into clear recommendations and decisions for senior leadership.
  • Establish strategic priorities and drive execution from roadmap development through measurable operational and business outcomes.
  • Own budgeting and financial planning for the interoperability function and use data-driven analysis to guide investments and priorities.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, including substantial experience leading leaders and building or scaling multi-function organizations with strong accountability and talent development.
  • Deep expertise in healthcare interoperability, including FHIR, HL7, C-CDA, health information exchange, EHR connectivity, and the integration of clinical, claims, and pharmacy data.
  • Proven experience delivering major regulatory and compliance initiatives, ideally involving FHIR/API-based healthcare interoperability programs and CMS interoperability requirements.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment, including CMS interoperability rules, ASTP/ONC, TEFCA, and information-blocking requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to align diverse stakeholder groups around a common strategy, synthesize competing priorities, communicate decisions clearly, and drive organizational execution.
  • Experience negotiating and managing multi-million-dollar vendor relationships, evaluating vendor ecosystems, and developing commercially and operationally sound partnership strategies.
  • Experience representing an organization externally with healthcare providers, regulators, industry groups, or other influential partners.
  • Track record of creating and executing multi-year strategic roadmaps while maintaining sufficient attention to operational details and measurable results.
  • Strong data-driven, financial, and organizational skills, including experience with budgeting and financial modeling.
  • Highly proactive and adaptable leadership style, with the ability to reprioritize quickly and operate effectively in a fast-moving, flexible environment.
  • Experience in healthcare delivery, health insurance, or EHR environments is strongly preferred, particularly where you have partnered with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders.
  • Experience working directly within an EHR, health information network, clinical data intermediary, or connectivity platform is desirable.
  • Understanding of value-based care, payment incentives, and risk-bearing provider models is a plus.
  • Direct experience engaging with regulatory organizations and influencing or responding to interoperability policy is preferred.
  • A genuine passion for healthcare data exchange, with the ability to move fluently between technical details, regulatory considerations, and long-term strategy.
Conditions
  • Annual base salary range of $257,500–$290,000, with actual compensation determined by experience, qualifications, education, certifications, skills, and location.
  • Employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision coverage, with low- or no-premium options.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • $100 monthly mobile or internet stipend.
  • Stock options for all employees.
  • Parental leave program.
  • 401(k) program.
  • Additional total rewards and employee benefits for eligible full-time employees.
  • Remote work within the United States.
