This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a PowerBI and Oracle PL/SQL/ETL Developer based in Canada.
This is a senior data and software development opportunity supporting a major data modernization and archival initiative in Ottawa, Ontario. The role focuses on migrating historical financial data from a legacy mainframe environment into a secure, scalable, and user-friendly archival solution.
Responsibilities
- Gather, validate, and translate business and technical requirements into clear functional and technical specifications, participating in stakeholder workshops to understand objectives, KPIs, reporting needs, and success criteria.
- Analyze source data and develop data models, mappings, business rules, and data structures that support migration, archiving, reporting, and integration requirements.
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize Oracle PL/SQL and ETL processes supporting historical financial data migration and secure archival solutions.
- Design and enhance Microsoft Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, visualizations, and ad-hoc reporting solutions to meet business intelligence requirements.
- Integrate reporting and analytics solutions with existing applications, databases, APIs, and other data sources as required, including support for embedded analytics.
- Develop data validation, reconciliation, error-checking, and quality assurance processes to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout migration and reporting workflows.
- Perform unit testing, data validation, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and production support to ensure reliable and scalable solutions.
- Prepare and maintain technical and functional documentation covering architecture, data mappings, workflows, processes, and support procedures.
- Support solution deployment, production implementation, post-deployment activities, user training, knowledge transfer, and transition to ongoing support teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in software development, data engineering, or a related field, including at least 5 years in a senior software development, senior programming, or equivalent role.
- 5+ years of experience with data analysis, data modelling, data mapping, and integrating multiple data sources.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Oracle PL/SQL and ETL development.
- At least 2 years of experience developing business intelligence reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Microsoft Power BI.
- At least 2 years of experience designing and implementing data migration and archival solutions, including validation, reconciliation, quality assurance, testing, and troubleshooting.
- University degree or College/CEGEP diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Must currently hold a valid Reliability Security Clearance with the Government of Canada.
- Fluent English communication skills across reading, writing, and speaking are required; French bilingual capability is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work across complex datasets, technical requirements, and business objectives.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
