This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Project Engineer, Energy Storage Advisory based in United States.
The Senior Project Engineer will provide technical and commercial due-diligence expertise across energy storage, solar-plus-storage, and hybrid renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform technical due-diligence reviews for energy storage, solar-plus-storage, and hybrid renewable projects supporting financing, acquisitions, and development activities.
- Review EPC, interconnection, PPA, O&M, equipment supply, and other project agreements to identify technical, contractual, commercial, and execution risks.
- Analyze and validate financial models, including CAPEX, OPEX, warranties, degradation assumptions, performance expectations, and other drivers of project economics.
- Evaluate energy storage use cases, operating profiles, dispatch strategies, technical capabilities, and market conditions to assess project performance and viability.
- Prepare and complete Independent Engineering and Technical Advisory reports, ensuring findings, conclusions, recommendations, and supporting analysis are accurate, clear, and consistent.
- Integrate engineering, financial, environmental, and other multidisciplinary inputs into technically robust client deliverables.
- Work closely with Project Managers to align technical activities with project scope, schedules, budgets, and delivery commitments.
- Engage directly with clients, lenders, developers, and other stakeholders to present findings, address questions, respond to comments, and build trusted professional relationships.
- Identify project risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and apply lessons learned and industry best practices across assignments.
- Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, client outreach, and development of strategic opportunities.
- Represent the advisory practice at conferences, industry events, and other external forums while contributing to renewable-energy thought leadership.
- Mentor junior engineers and advise peers across disciplines, helping strengthen technical, commercial, and advisory capabilities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal tools, templates, processes, and methodologies used for technical due diligence and advisory engagements.
- Travel occasionally, generally less than 10%, for client meetings, conferences, and project-related activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in renewable energy, energy storage, or a closely related industry, preferably in a technical advisory, developer, lender, or project-finance environment.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing contracts and financial models associated with energy infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of project finance principles, technical risk assessment, project economics, and bankability considerations.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to understand how technical, contractual, and operational factors influence project value and financial outcomes.
- Familiarity with the North American energy storage market, including relevant market, policy, regulatory, and industry trends.
- Experience working effectively across multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear conclusions for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven client-facing experience and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, lenders, developers, and investors.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk-assessment capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project managers, engineers, financial specialists, and other contributors.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to mentor junior professionals and share technical expertise.
- Strong attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and a commitment to producing high-quality client deliverables.
Conditions
- Estimated base salary of $120,000–$140,000 USD, depending on skills, experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
