Partner is looking for a Senior Automation QA Engineer (Playwright/TypeScript) based in Germany.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and stabilize automated end-to-end (E2E) and API tests using TypeScript and Playwright.
Lead the migration of legacy automated tests from Java and Selenide to a modern Playwright and TypeScript-based testing framework.
Build and continuously improve test automation architecture, including fixtures, browser contexts, test data management, state handling, and parallel execution.
Develop and optimize load-testing scenarios using k6, collaborating with developers to analyze system performance and identify bottlenecks.
Evaluate performance metrics, investigate scalability limitations, and recommend improvements.
Apply appropriate test design techniques and testing strategies across UI, API, and performance testing layers.
Write clean, maintainable, reliable, and concurrency-safe code.
Conduct code reviews, share technical knowledge, and promote consistent engineering and QA standards.
Collaborate closely with product teams, developers, and other QA engineers to integrate quality practices throughout the SDLC.
Contribute to CI/CD processes by improving automated testing workflows and integrating test suites into pipelines.
Explore modern tools, including AI-powered coding assistants, to streamline testing activities.
Requirements
At least five years of professional experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or a related engineering role.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript, including interfaces, generics, asynchronous programming, and async/await patterns.
Hands-on experience building and evolving Playwright automation frameworks from the ground up, including fixtures, browser contexts, test state and data management, and test stability.
Proven experience automating UI workflows through E2E testing and validating REST APIs.
Strong knowledge of test design techniques, testing methodologies, coverage assessment, and risk-based test prioritization.
Practical experience with load and performance testing, including workload modeling, performance metrics, bottleneck identification, and results analysis. Experience with JMeter, Gatling, or Locust is relevant; familiarity with k6 is particularly valuable.
Ability to write clean, maintainable, and reliable automation code supporting parallel execution and minimizing flaky tests.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Familiarity with Java, Maven, and Selenide is an advantage.
Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins is desirable.
Knowledge of OpenAPI and Swagger specifications is beneficial.
Basic understanding of Kubernetes concepts (pods, nodes, resource limits, eviction) is a plus.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor is an advantage.
