Software Development Engineer

• Implement projects and features that require interaction with neighboring systems, working across groups to solve issues and implement changes
• Contribute to and facilitate team discussions, respecting and incorporating differing opinions
• Provide useful design and code review feedback to your teammates
• Contribute to the core infrastructure and platform needs of the team by working with tools and frameworks like Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Chef
• Help evolve manual tasks into more reliable, automated systems
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teammates
• Help onboard and support new team members
• Take the lead in solving problems of diverse scope, with guidance from senior teammates as needed
• Participate in an on-call rotation

• You have 1-3 years of related development experience
• Working knowledge of GoLang, with a desire to build deeper hands-on expertise
• Exposure to cloud providers (AWS, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Good understanding of core engineering concepts within your functional area
• Able to execute on features that require interaction with neighboring applications or services
• Growing understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
• Comfortable taking on well-scoped projects with support from senior teammates
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• A great teammate: communicative, collaborative, empathetic
• Eager to learn new domains, grow your skills, and take on more scope over time
• Open to working with teams distributed across different time zones
• We'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: Envoy, API Gateways, Varnish, VCL

• Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours (Mountain/Pacific Time) and occasional nights and weekends as required for on-call support.
• Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements: This position is open to Hybrid and Remote Work Locations. The preferred locations for this position are: San Francisco, CA, Denver, CO. Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles, which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home. There is a strong preference for Hybrid near a local office. However, we may be willing to consider remote candidates within the US. This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.
• Salary: The estimated salary range for this position is $155,370 to $186,444. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
