Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the Python SDK across database, auth, storage, realtime and functions, with sync and async APIs
• Start new things: identify gaps, make the case, build them
• Work in the open: triage issues, review contributions, keep CI and release automation healthy
• Own the typing experience: fully typed, checker-friendly SDK
• Support multiple Python versions, sync/async frameworks, workers, serverless, notebooks
• Work on realtime: websockets, reconnection, subscription and presence semantics
• Track platform changes and reflect them in the SDK and changelog
• Design in public: RFCs, migration guides, release notes, docs
• Make the SDK legible to AI coding agents

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of modern Python typing: generics, protocols, overloads, TypedDict, strict type checking
• Authored or maintained a published library with a public API
• Open source maintainer experience: triage, PR review, release automation, semver, security reports
• Fluent in asyncio with opinions on sync/async library design
• Knowledge of Python packaging: pyproject.toml, wheels, version support policy
• Testing habit: unit, type-level, end-to-end against a real stack
• Strong written communication; async by default
• Real autonomy and ability to navigate ambiguity
• Bonus: major-version migration, JWT/OAuth, AI agent framework integrations, schema-generated clients
