About the company
You will join the LHCb Technical Coordination section of the LHCb group, part of the LHCb design office, contributing to the CAD modelling of the LHCb detector and helping to develop LHCb digital mock-up and digital twin methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the conceptual design and development of mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with physicists, engineers, and technicians to translate conceptual requirements into practical engineering solutions.
- Produce engineering documentation, technical specifications, 3D models, and manufacturing drawings.
- Support the manufacturing, assembly, testing, and installation of equipment.
Requirements
- Initial experience in designing mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
- Knowledge of CATIA V5, PDM/PLM environments, or structured engineering data management.
- 3D CAD modelling and 2D drafting skills, preferably using CATIA V5.
- Good knowledge of mechanical drawing standards, dimensioning and tolerancing (ISO GPS), materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work effectively in an international, multidisciplinary team.
- Basic programming skills, ideally in JavaScript and/or Python (optional).
- Interest in 3D web visualisation technologies (e.g. Three.js, WebGL, glTF) (optional).
- Spoken and written English or French.
Conditions
- Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
- Working hours: 40 hours per week.
- Job flexibility: Fully Onsite.
- Monthly net stipend of 5266 or 5793 Swiss Francs depending on degree.
- 30 days of paid leave per year plus 2 weeks annual closure.
