Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production pipelines that collect data from external providers and load it into spatial databases
• Own pipelines in production, respond to failures, adapt ingestion when upstream providers change schemas
• Develop and operate REST and STAC APIs serving data to internal and external consumers
• Process large raster and vector datasets at scale: reprojection, mosaicking, tiling, format conversion, quality validation
• Improve automated testing, CI/CD, and data quality monitoring
• Work directly with stakeholders to agree on requirements and write specifications

Requirements

• 5+ years of Python in production, spatial indexing, coordinate reference systems, vertical datums, large-scale raster/vector processing
• Strong PostgreSQL/PostGIS: schema design, partitioning, query tuning, safe migrations
• Production pipelines on orchestration framework (Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect)
• HTTP services in Python with modern async framework and ORM
• Containers, CI/CD, cloud storage/messaging, Kubernetes
• Expert use of AI-assisted tools (Cursor, Claude, Copilot)
• Master's degree in CS, Geoinformatics, Geodesy, Remote Sensing, or equivalent
• Nice to have: satellite imagery, STAC, OGC API, Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF, dbt, OpenTelemetry, GitOps
