Responsibilities
- Oversee daily construction activities, inspection staff, field operations, and project safety, schedule, budget, and contract compliance.
- Oversee marine, structural, geotechnical, and heavy civil construction, including foundations, piling, concrete, shoreline improvements, and utilities.
- Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, change orders, pay applications, schedules, and field modifications while ensuring QA/QC, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Partner with the Owner, Engineer of Record, contractors, utilities, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues and keep projects on track.
- Prepare project reports, meeting minutes, inspection records, progress photos, punch lists, prepare and stamp as-builts, and closeout documentation.
- Primarily based in New York City with flexibility for evenings, nights, weekends, and occasional local travel.
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
- 10+ years of Resident Engineering, Construction Management/Inspection, or Heavy Civil Construction experience, including 5+ years as a Resident or Deputy Resident Engineer.
- Experience with marine, waterfront, structural, geotechnical, and heavy civil construction, including foundations, piling, concrete structures, shoreline improvements, and utility relocations.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects and coordinate with owners, engineers, contractors, utilities, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of public-sector contract administration, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, CPM scheduling, QA/QC, safety, and project documentation.
- Experience with NYCEDC, NYC Parks, NYCDDC, NYCDOT, NYSDOT, MTA, Port Authority, or similar agencies; familiarity with CM/GC, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, and Design-Bid-Build delivery.
