Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server databases, stored procedures, views, functions, jobs, and related database objects
  • Design and support enterprise data warehouse architectures, dimensional and enterprise data models, schemas, and end-to-end data flows
  • Evaluate and improve database and warehouse structures to strengthen query performance, data integrity, reliability, scalability, and maintainability
  • Investigate and resolve database, warehouse, integration, and reporting incidents, identifying root causes and implementing effective, lasting solutions
  • Support and troubleshoot SSIS, ETL pipelines, APIs, file-based integrations, data feeds, scheduled processes, and data movement between source systems, staging environments, warehouses, and reporting platforms
  • Investigate data discrepancies, reconcile reports against source systems, and ensure the accuracy and consistency of data across connected platforms
  • Review proposed changes to databases, data warehouses, and integrations to identify dependencies, assess downstream impacts, and reduce operational risk
  • Define and execute technical tests for database, warehouse, and integration changes; support DEV, TEST/UAT, and PROD deployments, including rollback planning where appropriate
  • Establish and improve monitoring, failure detection, retry, and recovery mechanisms for automated integrations and warehouse processes
  • Maintain accurate documentation covering critical databases, architecture, integrations, jobs, reports, data flows, and operational support procedures
  • Work closely with Development, Business Analysis, Project Management, Applications, Infrastructure, and Support teams to coordinate technical delivery and resolve dependencies
  • Communicate progress, target dates, blockers, risks, and next steps clearly. Escalate issues early and ensure all assigned work is investigated, tested, validated, documented, deployed, and ready for ongoing support
Requirements
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and advanced T-SQL, including complex queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and SQL Server Agent jobs
  • Demonstrated expertise in data warehouse architecture, dimensional modeling, enterprise data modeling, schema design, and data pipeline development
  • Practical experience with SSIS, SSISDB, or equivalent ETL technologies, including integration architecture, data movement, APIs, files, feeds, and scheduled data processes
  • Proven ability to support production databases and data warehouses, investigate failures, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve performance, reliability, and data quality issues
  • Strong understanding of SQL query optimization, data integrity, production stability, and the maintenance of large or complex database environments
  • Experience supporting reporting platforms, investigating discrepancies, validating outputs, and tracing data back to source systems
  • Ability to analyze data lineage, understand upstream and downstream dependencies, and assess the impact of technical changes across connected systems
  • Experience testing and deploying database, warehouse, and integration changes across development, testing/UAT, and production environments, including rollback and recovery planning
  • Familiarity with Azure data services and the ability to contribute to modernization initiatives where applicable
  • Ability to independently manage complex technical assignments from investigation and solution design through implementation, validation, deployment, and support
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical and business teams, communicate risks clearly, and keep work moving toward resolution
Conditions
  • Remote opportunity based in Canada
