Zocdoc is a digital health marketplace that helps patients find and book care. The Appointment Management team owns backend systems for scheduling and availability across Zocdoc’s channels, supporting booking for millions of patients and helping providers and practice staff manage schedules.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services, APIs, and data models for scheduling and availability systems, primarily using C#/.NET and AWS technologies; contribute across the stack as needed, including React/TypeScript frontend work.
- Drive architectural decisions for complex scheduling logic, ensuring reliability, scalability, and correctness across millions of bookings.
- Lead cross-team technical initiatives and establish patterns that improve engineering quality beyond the immediate team.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-impact features.
- Champion engineering excellence through code quality, performance, and operational ownership.
- Mentor peers and work with GenAI tools and technology.
Requirements
- Track record of designing and delivering backend systems that handle complex domain logic at scale.
- Ability to think critically about system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Ability to break ambiguous problems into clear technical direction.
- Experience mentoring engineers and encouraging engineering best practices.
- Integrated generative AI tools into daily workflows to automate tasks, foster innovation, and maximize productivity.
- Ownership of initiatives from architectural design through production and operational excellence.
- Strong communication skills, including communicating with stakeholders and explaining technical details at the appropriate level.

- NYC base salary range: $180,000–$270,000 USD per year. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable pay and/or equity; full compensation details are discussed with the recruiter.
