Product Design Manager

About the company

• New Relic builds an intelligent observability platform for an AI-first world.
• The Bengaluru design team works on AI products: autonomous incident response (SRE Agent, Autopilot, Intelligent RCA), intelligence/platform layer (Ground Truth, Agentic Platform, New Relic AI), and AIOps.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a small team of designers: 1:1s, career development, feedback, expectations.
• Own design quality across AI Products and ensure the team solves the right problems at the right craft level.
• Represent the user's perspective in product and engineering discussions, bring user research into roadmap conversations.
• Partner with PM and Engineering as a peer, communicate design value in business terms (adoption, incident resolution time, retention).
• Manage incoming work, maintain visibility, balance competing priorities.
• Bring a point of view on AI interaction design: trust, transparency, human-in-the-loop.
• Use AI tools actively (Figma AI, Claude, Gemini) and help the team develop theirs.
• Contribute IC design work when needed.
• Hire well and connect the Bengaluru team to the global design org (US, Spain).

Requirements

• 8+ years of product design experience, with meaningful time on complex B2B/enterprise software.
• 2–4 years of direct people management.
• Genuine curiosity about AI product design; point of view on trust, transparency, human-in-the-loop.
• Experience working in ambiguity and across time zones with async communication.

Conditions

• On-site role in Bengaluru.
• Collaboration with partners in the US and Spain across time zones.
