Responsibilities
- Work on architecture, design, and technical strategy for complex microservices systems
- Drive technical decision-making and architectural reviews, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability
- Lead critical technical initiatives and cross-team projects
- Drive adoption of AI-powered tools and methodologies to accelerate development cycles
- Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of precision and operational excellence
- Take technical lead on backend-heavy product problems, designing, building, and operating services at scale
- Work beyond specialization when the problem demands it
- Operate what you build: instrument, monitor, and improve systems in production
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with AI tooling (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) beyond casual experimentation
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience with deep expertise in microservices and distributed event-driven architectures
- Expert-level proficiency in Go or JVM languages
- Proven track record in architectural decisions for large-scale distributed systems
- Advanced experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures
- Extensive experience building event-driven architectures using message bus technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, etc.)
- Deep expertise with database technologies (relational and NoSQL)
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and drive technical standards
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Meaningful experience using AI coding agents as part of regular workflow
- Familiarity with e-commerce, subscription-based business models, and GraphQL is a plus
- Take full ownership, bias to ship, finish the last twenty percent
- Product sense and opinionated about what should be built, backed by data and user evidence
- Strong fluency in Go and hands-on experience building distributed systems in production
