Responsibilities
- Lead the analysis, design, development, delivery, and deployment of instructional assets, identifying content gaps, defining learning objectives, and recommending effective learning strategies.
- Apply adult learning principles and the ADDIE methodology to develop instructional frameworks, design documents, storyboards, courses, curricula, student guides, and training manuals.
- Design engaging online and virtual instructor-led learning experiences, incorporating appropriate levels of interactivity and learner engagement.
- Create experiential learning assets such as interactive stories, simulations, games, and other immersive training experiences using approved development tools.
- Use AI-enabled tools, including solutions such as Copilot and ChatGPT, to improve instructional design and development efficiency while maintaining quality.
- Develop interactive learning experiences using authoring platforms such as Lectora, Adobe Captivate, or Articulate Storyline.
- Create and integrate visual, audio, interactive, and text-to-speech elements, with familiarity with tools such as Vyond, Camtasia, or Adobe After Effects.
- Ensure all learning materials meet client quality standards, technical requirements, learner needs, and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
- Partner with subject matter experts, instructional designers, project managers, and other stakeholders to assess training needs, develop concepts, and recommend appropriate strategies.
- Collaborate with project management teams to maintain schedules, monitor milestones, identify risks, and ensure deliverables are completed on time.
- Provide technical and instructional leadership throughout the learning asset development lifecycle, proactively addressing risks, resolving conflicts, and constructively challenging decisions when needed.
- Lead and facilitate teams through complex learning development initiatives while maintaining strong communication, accountability, and delivery standards.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- At least 8 years of experience working as a Senior Instructional Systems Designer or in a closely related senior instructional design role.
- Demonstrated experience designing and developing courses using Lectora or comparable instructional authoring tools.
- Strong knowledge of instructional systems design, adult learning theory, ADDIE, experiential learning, and learning asset development.
- Experience creating classroom, virtual, hybrid, online, and interactive learning experiences.
- Strong understanding of Section 508 accessibility requirements and the ability to incorporate accessibility throughout the design and development process.
- Experience working closely with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams, with strong facilitation, collaboration, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through the full learning asset development lifecycle and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present ideas, facilitate discussions, manage expectations, and communicate risks.
- Strong technology skills, particularly within Microsoft Teams and SharePoint environments.
- Familiarity with visual, audio, animation, and multimedia development tools such as Vyond, Camtasia, Adobe After Effects, or similar platforms.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance instructional design and development workflows.
- Ability to work during East Coast core hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection suitable for a fully remote work environment.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
- An active public trust clearance is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to quality, deadlines, and stakeholder needs.
