Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deliver high-quality open source software operations code primarily using Python and Golang.
- Work across the Linux technology stack, including the kernel, networking, storage, virtualization, containers, and applications.
- Build and improve open source infrastructure for monitoring, alerting, automation, and reliable operations.
- Help rethink and modernize open source operations to address the evolving needs of customers and the broader open source community.
- Apply strong software engineering principles across architecture, implementation, testing, documentation, performance, and maintainability.
- Follow agile software development practices and contribute to efficient, high-quality delivery.
- Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams to solve complex infrastructure and software operations challenges.
- Coach and support colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and practical engineering insights.
- Contribute to a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with shared technical and organizational values.
- Participate in internal and external events, with global travel of up to 10% of the time.
Requirements
- Strong professional experience as a software engineer, with particular expertise in Python development.
- Passion for building reliable, maintainable, and high-quality software and a strong understanding of the importance of dependable operations in an agile environment.
- Practical knowledge of Linux and networking, with an interest in working across the broader Linux stack.
- Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
- Strong engineering judgment, with demonstrated attention to software quality, correctness, testing, documentation, and performance.
- Excellent organizational skills and a proactive approach to delivering software on time and to a high standard.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a globally distributed team.
- Curiosity and a lifelong-learning mindset, with enthusiasm for exploring new technologies and solving complex technical challenges.
- Golang programming experience is a valuable advantage.
- A university degree in Computer Science, software engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
