Fintech Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Fintech Engineer based in Brazil.

This is a high-impact engineering opportunity focused on building financial infrastructure for complex, high-value, cross-border transactions. You will take ownership of a payment gateway designed to simplify global fund flows, vendor payouts, and milestone-based financial operations. The role combines fintech architecture, distributed systems, payment integrations, security, and financial data integrity. You will work across the stack, moving seamlessly between system design and hands-on implementation. Your work will help create reliable infrastructure capable of supporting significant transaction volumes and high-value payments. • Architect and develop the end-to-end payment gateway, integrating payment and financial service providers such as Stripe Connect and Airwallex to support complex global fund flows.
• Design and implement milestone-based escrow and ledgering systems capable of securely managing funds throughout extended transaction and planning cycles.
• Build scalable financial infrastructure for a B2B SaaS platform, enabling businesses to manage cross-border invoicing, payments, and foreign-exchange settlements.
• Develop reliable backend services and microservices using technologies such as Node.js, Go, or Python within an event-driven architecture.
• Implement strong security and compliance capabilities, including PCI-DSS and SOC 2 controls as well as automated KYC and AML workflows.
• Engineer highly reliable systems for high-value financial transactions, targeting 99.99% uptime and strong resilience under periods of exceptionally high demand.
• Design systems that maintain accurate, consistent, and auditable financial records across payment, ledger, settlement, and payout workflows.
• Optimize infrastructure and application performance while maintaining security, scalability, and transactional integrity.
• Translate high-level financial and business requirements into practical technical architecture and production-ready implementations.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices for payment infrastructure, financial data management, reliability, and security.

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience within fintech or financial technology environments.
• Proven experience building and operating scalable financial or payment systems, ideally within organizations working on platforms such as Stripe, Adyen, Airwallex, Checkout.com, or comparable fintech products.
• Advanced proficiency in Node.js, Go, or Python, with strong experience designing and developing scalable microservices.
• Deep technical understanding of payment systems and financial concepts, including ledgering, card issuing, 3D Secure 2.0, and cross-border treasury operations.
• Strong expertise with PostgreSQL or a comparable relational database, particularly for highly consistent and financially sensitive records.
• Experience with event-driven architecture and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Familiarity with payment service integrations and APIs, particularly Stripe Connect, Airwallex, or similar providers.
• Strong understanding of security, compliance, transaction integrity, and reliability requirements within fintech environments.
• A hands-on builder mindset with the ability to move from architectural design to implementation and troubleshooting.
• Strong ownership, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate effectively in an evolving environment.
• Experience with React or other modern frontend technologies is a plus.
