This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. QA Automation Test Engineer based in United States.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of scalable backend and frontend test automation frameworks, with a primary focus on backend API and service-level validation.
- Design and execute comprehensive automated test suites covering backend services, REST/gRPC APIs, data pipelines, integrations, and frontend UI workflows across the fleet operations platform.
- Develop automation solutions primarily using Python and Go for backend testing and JavaScript for frontend validation, while adopting new tools and frameworks as the technology stack evolves.
- Lead integration testing for third-party APIs and internal services, ensuring reliable end-to-end data flows across fleet management, dispatching, monitoring, and related systems.
- Conduct root-cause analysis of test failures and system defects, collaborating across engineering teams to identify issues and drive them through resolution.
- Partner with software engineers and product teams to define test strategies, identify coverage gaps, and establish scalable automated quality gates within CI/CD pipelines.
- Lead and mentor another automation test engineer through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and professional development support.
- Drive continuous improvement across the automation testing function through stronger processes, documentation, test plans, operational frameworks, and engineering best practices.
- Adapt automation strategies to accommodate evolving platform requirements, architectural changes, and technology-stack updates, while supporting after-hours validation or release activities when required.
- Occasionally travel domestically to support on-site testing or operational deployments and perform other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Bring 5+ years of experience in software QA or test automation, with strong hands-on expertise in backend and API testing.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Python and Go for backend automation and JavaScript for frontend automation, along with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and frameworks.
- Have experience designing and building automation frameworks from the ground up for complex, distributed systems and production-grade software environments.
- Be experienced with REST and/or gRPC API testing, service integration validation, and data pipeline verification.
- Have hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated quality gates into software delivery and release processes.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead technical initiatives independently, mentor engineers, take ownership of outcomes, and collaborate effectively across engineering and product teams.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly report technical findings and drive alignment among cross-functional stakeholders.
- Bring strong initiative, accountability, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Be comfortable with a flexible schedule and supporting late meetings, night shifts, urgent validation activities, or release requirements when operational needs arise.
- Experience with autonomous vehicle fleet monitoring, dispatching, fleet management, ride-hail or transportation platform integrations, cloud telemetry, or AV data pipelines is preferred.
- Experience working within cross-site or global engineering organizations and a Master’s degree in a relevant technical field are additional advantages.
Conditions
- Annual base salary range of $125,000–$167,000 USD, with actual compensation based on factors including skills, experience, expertise, certifications, role location, and business needs.
