About the company
Cloudflare builds and operates a global network that powers, protects, and accelerates Internet properties. Its mission is to help build a better Internet. The company values curiosity, iteration, and using AI to solve problems.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery, capture business requirements, map customer infrastructure—including DNS, CDN, Zero Trust, Network Security, and Workers—to Cloudflare architectures, and scope success criteria and technical evaluation plans for Proofs of Concept and technical validations.
- Deliver tailored technical presentations, architectural diagrams, and demonstrations; address technical objections, security compliance questions, and edge-case architecture requirements; ensure proposals include a suitable deployment strategy involving the customer, a partner, or Cloudflare Professional Services.
- Oversee technical onboarding and implementation without executing the implementation. Serve as the primary executive and engineering contact, design migration and onboarding blueprints (such as DNS migrations, Zero Trust rollouts, and WAF tuning guidance), and advise customer engineering teams on configuration best practices.
- Partner with Account Executives on discovery, demos, onboarding, technical health, risk, and expansion strategy. Monitor customer health scores and telemetry, resolve integration bottlenecks, and reduce deployment risk.
- Carry a variable quota tied to new business and/or account growth. Drive platform adoption and revenue retention, identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities, and lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews to communicate return on investment to C-level executives.
- Advise customers throughout onboarding, maturity, renewal, and expansion on architecture, AI control layers, security posture, and deployment confidence; identify risks and recommend remediation.
- Use AI agents, large language models, and internal platforms to automate routine work such as RFP and security questionnaire responses, sandbox provisioning, telemetry monitoring, and documentation.
- Work with the Enablement Team to create and govern technical resources, including Standard Operating Procedures, architectural best practices, and technical guides; educate internal teams and customers.
Requirements
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Professional Services, Sales Engineering, Technical Account Management, or Forward Deployed Engineering. Required years of experience vary by Associate, Senior, Staff, or Principal level.
- Ability to design and explain complex enterprise network and security architectures; strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and consultative skills, including translating technical concepts into business outcomes for engineers and C-level executives.
- Proven experience in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment and understanding of SaaS metrics, business value, and enterprise sales cycles.
- Demonstrate depth in at least four technical areas: Internet fundamentals (OSI layers 1–7, BGP, GRE, TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP(S), SSL/TLS); security (WAF, Bot Management, Firewalls, Rate Limiting, (M)TLS, Zero Trust, SASE); Internet performance (speed, latency, caching, video streaming, HTTP/2, TLS 1.3); AI proficiency (prompt engineering, AI-assisted scripting and log analysis, LLMs, workflow automation); coding/scripting (Python, JavaScript, Bash, Lua, Go, or similar); developer platforms (RESTful/GraphQL APIs, SDKs, webhooks, cloud-native tooling, Terraform, Pulumi, CI/CD, observability).
- Preferred: experience creating technical enablement such as workshops, code samples, documentation, or developer onboarding; knowledge of LLM orchestration, RAG architectures, and model-access controls; familiarity with PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SOC 2. Background in hyperscalers, digital-native companies, distributed systems, or startups is valued.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
