About the company
It all started when engineer Fred Luddy wrote code that automated a tedious task for his coworker, Phyllis. She cried tears of joy. That moment inspired Fred to build a company that could do that for everyone—freeing people from busywork so they could focus on meaningful work. Today, ServiceNow is the AI control tower for business reinvention. Our ServiceNow AI platform brings together any AI, any data, and any workflow— helping 85% of the Fortune 500® work smarter, faster, and better. We're building an AI-native culture where technology and talent are unstoppable together. And we're just getting started.
Join us to put AI to work for people.
Responsibilities
- Complete guided bug fixes, simple feature enhancements, and test writing across front-end (React/Angular/Vue, HTML5/CSS3) and back-end (REST/GraphQL APIs, business logic) layers, following established team conventions.
- Contribute to features that incorporate AI-native behavior — such as agentic workflows and conversational experiences — under the direction of senior engineers, developing a working understanding of how these systems are designed and tested.
- Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for your work; participate in code review as an author; and adhere to coding standards, linting rules, and documentation practices.
- Begin using AI coding assistants (such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor) under supervision to accelerate implementation, learning to critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability rather than accepting it at face value.
- Learn to work within CI/CD pipelines, participate in deployments, and develop awareness of how code ships reliably and operates in production.
- Raise blockers promptly, ask questions freely, and communicate progress clearly to your tech lead and teammates in sprint ceremonies and check-ins.
- Partner with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to understand requirements and translate them into working, well-tested software.
Requirements
- Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 0–2 years of professional software engineering experience, or a strong academic background with relevant internship or project work.
- Foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming; beginning-level proficiency in at least one modern language and framework.
