Mercury is building a complete finance stack for startups. The AML Investigations team is responsible for detecting suspicious activity, conducting thorough investigations, and shutting down bad actors.
Responsibilities
- Provide input as we implement new transaction monitoring rules and tune existing ones
- Review AML and other financial crime alerts in our transaction monitoring queue
- Contact users for information on their account usage and transactions
- Investigate and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from Partner Banks
- Decision user accounts as needed, including locking or closing accounts
- Document investigative findings and escalate unusual or potentially suspicious activity
- Write clear documentation on current processes and help train future teammates
Requirements
- Experience in identifying money laundering, detecting fraud, or other financial crimes in banking, fintech, or financial services
- Fluent in the language of bank transactions, including ACH, check, debit card, credit card, and wire transfers
- Understand the business banking landscape and familiarity with international activity and ownership
- Communicate complicated concepts with efficiency and clarity
- Manage relationships with external parties with confidence
Conditions
- Base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits
- Target base salary range: $109,500 - $152,100 USD (varies by location)
