Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a team of Financial Crime Operations Team Leads and Specialists for specific SME areas
- Ensure effective assessment and mitigation of risks related to high-risk customers, adhering to AML/CFT regulations and aligning with Wise's risk appetite and internal policies
- Act as a connector between the operational team and Wise's senior leadership, communicating strategic objectives and transforming them into actionable directives
- Align Wise's mission and strategy with performance expectations, developing and owning a strategic roadmap spanning several quarters
- Support team growth and independence through training, mentoring, coaching, delegation, and recognition
- Design and implement customer-focused processes while maintaining awareness of risks in the financial industry
- Leadership and people development: drive team performance and cultural excellence, lead by example, manage and develop a high-performing team
- Performance management: foster a culture of excellence, meet KPIs and SLAs, refresh performance expectations, address underperformance
- Operational management: turn high-level plans into actionable changes, create phased implementation plans, optimize team structure, identify redundancies and inefficiencies
Requirements
- Experience as an operations manager
- In-depth understanding of risks associated with complex business structures, varied customer types and activities, and country-specific challenges
- Knowledge of AML/CFT regulations
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience with performance frameworks and KPIs/SLAs
