• The Query team owns the system that makes product data fast and reliably queryable, serving domain-level APIs to product teams and customers.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-natively, treating AI as the default starting point for solving problems
• Own and harden the ClickHouse-based storage layer, designing schemas and tuning ingestion and query performance
• Design and own ingestion from event streams and durable workflows built on Temporal
• Evolve the platform into the default path for historical queries, building indexing, caching, and tiered storage
• Set technical direction, lead design discussions, and write architecture decisions
• Champion observability using Honeycomb, Datadog, and Rollbar

Requirements

• AI-native engineering practices, using AI tools daily
• Hands-on data experience with ingestion pipelines, event-driven architectures, or analytical and time-series datastores
• Experience with ClickHouse or another columnar database is a strong plus
• Strong in Go: interface design, data modeling, service integration, and concurrency
• Familiarity with React and TypeScript is a plus
• Distributed systems judgment: delivery guarantees, idempotency, backpressure, failure recovery
• Technical leadership experience
• 5+ years building and operating production backend systems

Conditions

• Remote, Canada or Remote, United States
• Canada base pay range: $156,500 – $215,000 CAD
• US SF Bay Area: $185,000 – $255,000 USD; US Metro Zone 2: $175,000 – $245,000 USD; US General: $165,000 – $225,000 USD
