This is a senior-level opportunity supporting complex network and security environments for high-profile clients in a global IT services setting.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex network solutions for new client sites, relocations, infrastructure upgrades, network expansions, and disaster recovery environments, with Cisco technologies central to core networking requirements.
- Support the design, configuration, and maintenance of global network and data center environments, documenting architectures and sharing technical knowledge with peers.
- Manage Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including spanning tree, VTP, VLANs, physical connectivity, QoS, PoE, NTP, DHCP, and related network control protocols.
- Configure and support network management and security protocols, including CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP, SSH, HTTPS, and AAA.
- Provide Tier 3 support for complex network and data communication incidents involving private and internet circuits, routing, VPN connectivity, WAN optimization, hardware, and third-party vendor connections.
- Configure and troubleshoot IPSec VPN tunnels and advanced routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
- Work with Cisco and Palo Alto technologies to maintain secure, reliable, and high-performing network infrastructures.
- Investigate complex networking issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and apply sound technical judgment to resolve incidents efficiently.
- Prioritize urgent and highly sensitive client requirements while setting realistic expectations and maintaining a high standard of service.
- Balance business-as-usual support with project delivery, ensuring activities are accurately documented for operational and client billing purposes.
- Participate in an on-call rotation approximately once every 10 weeks and manage escalations from other business units.
- Contribute to operational efficiency, quality control, technical documentation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of relevant IT experience in Cisco environments, including at least 5 years of dedicated network engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on professional experience.
- Advanced expertise in network routing and switching, with experience designing and architecting enterprise network solutions.
- CCNP certification or an equivalent level of professional networking expertise.
- Strong practical knowledge of WAN/LAN and transport technologies, including Ethernet, SD-WAN, VPN, DMVPN, and MPLS.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies and strong Palo Alto firewall expertise; FortiGate and Cisco ASA experience are advantageous.
- Proven experience configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP, as well as IPSec VPNs.
- Strong understanding of data center networking and enterprise network infrastructure.
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate complex technical problems and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Experience providing Tier 3 support and working within client-facing or managed service environments.
- Financial services industry and Managed Services Provider (MSP) experience are strongly preferred.
- Strong professionalism, communication skills, customer focus, and ability to manage expectations with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams and other business units.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio for documentation, diagrams, and operational activities.
- Experience with SolarWinds Orion, Kiwi, and Syslog is an advantage.
- Willingness and ability to travel to client offices and data centers when required.
- Availability to participate in an on-call rotation.
